Welcome to devinicals. In case you are wondering exactly what "devinicals" are....they are little extensions of my thoughts in visual form.  This site has a number of three dimensional and two dimensional works. These fabric sculptures are designed and created in very limited editions. No two are exactly alike. The buttons are sewn on, the jewelry assembled, belts braided and the hats are formed and sewn. I use sterling, gold plate, and solid brass findings.  Thirty or more individual steps are involved in creating each piece.  They are titled, signed and dated on the bottom.

The character above is entitled the WOODLAND SAVANT.

His head and hands are cast of hydrocal and then painted. He was created in a very limited edition of ten.  Over sixty individual steps have been undertaken in creating this character. Each outfit is sewn.  The findings are solid brass and are sewn on, knotted and glued.  The apples are made of painted beads with a leather stem and stiffened fabric leaves.  The green bag holds a small bell.  A small cloisonne fish hangs from his bucket. His vest has a brass moon and star sewn on and he also has a small green bag with a bell. A brass dragonfly is sewn to his cloth swatch on his belt.  A walking stick was cut and dried from a mock cherry tree, then drilled and sanded.  This wise man of the forest is returning home from the woods with his evening meal of fish, greens, and apples. He knows the truth is out there.  He stands approximately 6 1/2" high.
